(Post-Lockdown) Summer Must-Haves

Hope you’re all having a lovely weekend and have been lucky enough to get some good weather. It’s gloriously sunny here in London. This weekend has been a busy-ish one compared to the lockdown weekends. Yesterday, I ran in Victoria Park and saw lots of cute dogs, made a millionaires shortbread (which is delish), and treated myself to a takeaway pizza from one of my favorite places in London. Today, I got up and walked to the park to do a little workout video and then my roommate and I grabbed a coffee and heading to Colombia Road Flower Market, as it reopened today. I had a couple plant casualties over lockdown, so it was nice to pick up a few bits to fill my empty pots. My room is finely starting to feel more green and lively again.

Now that we’re all putting our sweatpants back in our wardrobe, and allowed to go out and about a little bit more, I wanted to focus of some of the top trends for this summer. Below are my summer must-haves.

Take Your Tartan into Spring

How are you doing on this bright and sunny Sunday? I’ve been having a chilled one today, but I went out early this morning to enjoy the sun (just started using the Couch to 5k app to start running…it wasn’t easy but easier than expected so I’ll keep you updated). Friday night I went to an art exhibit opening with my friend, Vincenza, and yesterday, I walked around Shoredtich and made some orange scones, so it’s been quite a nice and relaxing weekend.

We all know by now that I’m a huge fan of tartan, and I try to incorporate it wherever and whenever I can. Of course, I didn’t want to bid the pattern adieu with the coming of spring and the inevitable packing away of big scarves and wool trousers, so I’ve found a few ways to bring it right into spring. Below are the ways I’ll be incorporating tartan, aka plaid, into my warmer weather looks.

How to Style Ugly Sneakers

How has your weekend and Thanksgiving been? Have you been rocking some killer fall/winter outfits? Comment down below what your current favorite winter outfit is! I’ve been up in Newcastle this week visiting my brother, exploring the city, and eating lots of food, most importantly of which was our Thanksgiving meal! Although we missed our Tennessee family, it was nice that Fergus and I got to spend it together and try out cooking it for ourselves! We did pretty well apart from our roasted veg could’ve been…well a bit more roasted! Anyway, the day after our Thanksgiving meal, Fergus took me touring around Newcastle and took some awesome shots for this week’s post featuring my ‘ugly’ sneakers!

We may call them ugly, but everyone who’s anyone in the fashion industry has been rocking these less-than-sleek babies, from Gigi Hadid to bloggers to models in the Louis Vuitton ads . They’ve also been called chunky trainers, dad shoes, and a fashion Frankenstein. There are obviously endless ways to rock them, but these are my top three ways I would recommend to pull off your own dad sneakers.

How to Rock Cowboy Couture

Good morning and happy Easter to those that celebrate! (I hope you're all eating extra chocolate today!) Inspired by my recent discovery of the show Westworld (I know I'm late, but if you have not seen it and like futuristic shows, seriously get on it!), I decided to dedicate a post to the western-inspired trends that have been gracing the fashion world as of late.

Although Western trends were showing up on runways starting last winter, they were absolutely ruling the AW18 runways all over the world, including fashion houses I really admire like House of Holland, Calvin Klein, and Topshop. Cowboy couture is a fairly easy trend to try out and you probably already have some of these trends in your wardrobe! Here's how you can conquer fashion's new frontier.

Girls Supporting Girls

It's finally February! We made it through one of the longest months of the year. Congrats! This week, in light of recent women's marches that went on throughout the world a couple weeks ago, I thought I would talk about how we can better support the community of women in our lives.  Whether that be the women in your workplace, an online community of women you've never met, or just your closest confidants and best of friends, we should all have each others' backs!  You might not have made it to a women's march near you, but here's how you can support women on a smaller, but still important, scale.

Color Forecast: Spring 2017

So spring has finally sprung, and the weather is slowly changing from dull and chilly to bright, crisp, and a little warmer.

One of the most wonderful things about spring, in my opinion, is the introduction of the color that was lost during those dull winter months.  The flowers start blooming and that means your wardrobe can too! I've been thoroughly enjoying adding some pops of color back into my life the past couple weeks, so I thought I would research what colors will be trending this season so you can try them out too.  Grab yourself a cup of tea and some chocolate, and let's talk color!
