Making the 80s Modern

Hello friends,

How are you on this lovely Sunday?  This week, I want to chat about one of the eras I've been incorporating into my wardrobe a lot recently....Can you guess what it is?

Yes, it's the 80s! Below are some of my favorite 80s-type trends that you should definitely be incorporating into your modern wardrobe.

Exaggerated Shoulders

If you haven't noticed yet, one of my favorite trends at the moment are poofy shoulders or sleeves.  I don't have particularly wide shoulders, myself, so I love embellishing that area.  Plus, I feel like exaggerating your shoulders always makes your waist seem smaller! It's a win win!  The top I chose for this outfit has the perfect puffed sleeve, but I think the stripes make it feel more casual and wearable.

Slogan Tees

I've also been rocking my fair share of slogan tees as of late.  I love how an oh-so-casual slogan t-shirt paired with a sophisticated pencil skirt can make for an interesting juxtaposition.  This is an easy trend to try out and it's always fun finding the perfect slogan that reflects you and your style.

Denim Jackets

If there is one trend you could easily rock from the 80s this fall, it's the denim jacket.  People everywhere are bringing back this effortless trend, and I'm definitely not opposed to throwing on a little denim.  As per the usual, I went for my Grandad's vintage Levi jacket, in all its ripped and faded glory.

Statement Earrings

Statement earrings have been popping up everywhere lately and if accessories are where you shine, they're a great option.  Typically, I stick to my same delicate gold accessories day in and day out, but even I have a couple pairs of statement earrings in my repertoire.   Whether it's tassels, baubles, or pompoms, you should find one you feel great rocking.

Mini Skirts

No matter how short you are, a mini skirt will almost always lengthen your legs.  (They're the short girls' best friend, you know!)  Plus I think miniskirts make any outfit a bit more youthful and fun.

Thank you for coming along this week and having a little read with me!  If you want to see more photos from this shoot or any other, head over to my Instagram or Facebook.  I hope you all have a productive and fabulous week!
