Back to Black

Good Morning friends,

I hope you're all doing well on this dreary January morning.  Has this not been the longest month ever?  It feels like it will never end, and I don't know about you, but we've been having some not-so-lovely weather! Instead of crisp, frosty mornings, we've been having soggy grey ones.

Because of the less than cheerful weather and this never-ending month after the holiday season, I know many of you, like me, are getting a bit bored or feeling uninspired when it comes to your wardrobe.  You've probably even resulted to wearing black everyday, which, while easy, can also be quite unexciting.  Not to fear though, I'm challenging you to reinvent the way we all wear black.

(My friend from high school, Miranda Meyers took these amazing shots for me, and they're honestly some of my favorites to date. We had so much fun creating these photos and chatting all afternoon! I've been wanting to work with her for ages now. Head over to her blog and instagram and give her amazing work some love.)

Find Something Black that is Unexpected

I found this fringe top for a steal in the Zara January sales and I think it's quite the unexpected twist on your usual black long sleeve!  The long fringe on the sleeves is definitely something you don't see everyday. (I've included some different black pieces below that you might like to add to your wardrobe.)  It's not enough fun to just throw on a plain black top anymore.  You've got to think outside the black box.

Use Black in a Pattern

Trade your old black piece in for something patterned with black, like black and white striped pants or polka dot blouse! This helps to keep the black to a small, concentrated amount and makes it more fun!

Do Not Wear Black From Head to Toe

Black from head-to-toe can be somewhat boring and is so 2013.  Try to pair is with some different colors especially blues.  Throw the 'black and blue can't go together' rule right out the window, like I did. Be a rebel with your black haha.

As always, thank you so much for reading along and I hope you enjoyed this little read! Leave a comment down below if you're going to try to reinvent black (or which ever neutral you wear the most) in your wardrobe. I'm also taking requests for future blog posts, so let me know if there's anything you want me to cover. I always love to hear from you! Remember to let Miranda and I know if you loved the photos, because we'll definitely be getting together again!

Georgie x
