Skirting the Issue

Hello lovely people! This week I wanted to feature my new denim skirt since the weather has been so lovely.  I also have a few tips on finding the right skirt for you!

Skirts come in so many shapes and styles it can sometimes be hard to know where to begin when finding the right one.  For me, I struggled for a while to find skirts that were actually flattering on me personally.  I always see people or mannequins in gorgeous maxi and midi skirts, but whenever I went to try them on I just looked ridiculous and frumpy.  The skirts swallowed me a bit.

I later found that how the skirt looks, is greatly influenced by your height.  The reason the long skirts looked so bad on me is because I'm only 5'4" and those skirts look best on people over 5'6"! So I've created a little guide on finding the perfect skirt for you.  (This doesn't mean you cannot wear skirts not corresponding to your height.  There are always exceptions to the rules!)

Here are the best skirt styles for your height (I've also added some of my favorite examples of these types of skirts, so be sure to click if you like the sound of one!):

5'4" and Under: Stick to shorter skirts that show of a bit more leg (Like mine above).  This will make your legs look longer and you look taller. This includes A-line skirts that fall above or at the knee, skirts with side slits or mini skirts.

5'5"-5'7": Mid-length skirts look best on women between these heights.  This includes midi skirts, skirts that fall at the knee, and any type of pencil skirt. Skirts with a flute hem also look flattering with this height.

5'7" and Above: Longer skirts look amazing on taller women.  Any type of midi or maxi skirt is made for these women (so jealous!).  If you're around this height, you can probably pull off most types of skirts.

Thank you all for taking the time to read this week's post.  It means so much to me.  Be sure to leave a comment on what types of skirts you find most flattering on you and if it follows my theory haha.  Also follow me on Instagram to see more photos and to see what I'm up to!
