Autumn/Winter ‘21 Fashion Must-Haves

Happy Sunday friends,

I hope you’re having a lovely chilled end to your weekend. I’ve been feeling very autumnal this weekend. Spent yesterday walking around Kew Gardens soaking up the crisp Autumnal air and eating Chinatown treats. We stumbled upon some very delicious dumplings and custard filled, fish shaped mini pancakes (See my stories for the details). I must say, it was a successful weekend of eating and enjoying fall weather as per the usual. What have you gotten up to? Leave a comment below.

For this week’s blog post, I want to talk about this season’s trends that will make you look like you’ve been reading every page of VOGUE, which let’s be honest, you just pick up to look at the pretty pictures in and maybe create some Instagram content with. Keep reading to find out which trends can’t be missed (minus the excessive perfume ads like in VOGUE) and leave a comment below with your favourite trend.

Chunky Boots

The bigger the better when it comes to your boots this season. Thanks to Prada’s famous Monolith boots, we’re all adding a bit of height and heft to our usual winter footwear. I got this pair from EGO and they’re a way more comfortable way of adding height to an outfit than heels.

Blazer Set

Blazer and skirt sets are the perfect business attire for the season. Trade in your floaty summer dress for one of these suit sets. Just add a pair of tights and the afore mentioned chunky boots and you’re set to take on the world like the real boss babe that you are. I made this one from a secondhand men’s blazer (consult my Instagram reels to see how I did it), but there are plenty on the market by both small businesses and high street stores alike. You’re sure to find the perfect one for you.

Saturated from head to toe

Throw out your half-hearted pop of colour this season and go for a head-to-toe saturated look. While in Paris, I picked up a full cobalt blue look and I’m loving the full matching look, I must admit. It may seem a bit intimidating wearing a look made up entirely of one brilliant shade, but what better way to brighten up your day than wearing it.

shirt and sweet

Layering always comes back around this time of year, and for 2021 this means layering a shirt under just about everything you were. Statement collars around still hanging around after that year as well, so keep that in mind when putting together your next look.

logo mania

Logos are back and better than ever. Brands like Fiorucci and Balenciaga are covering their pieces in their own logo and everyone seems to be on board. If you’re a fan of a certain brand, now is the time to cover yourself in their branding.

Thank you for reading this week’s blog post. A special thank you goes to Zoe Griffin, my gorgeous and talented photographer friend, for taking these shots for me while we were in Paris. Wishing I could go back now to be honest. Missing daily pastries haha. Shop some of my favourite trends below. Remember to check back next week for a new blog post and in the mean time follow me on Instagram at @thegirlcalledgeorge for my daily musings.
