My Mini Guide to Croatia

Hi friends,

Hope you’ve all had a fun and relaxing weekend. I’ve been entertaining my gorgeous cousin, Neave. Apart from eating our way through London, we also went to the Van Gogh Alive exhibit which I would definitely recommend if you’re looking for an exciting art experience. We also did some vintage shopping in Shoreditch which I haven’t done in a while.

Anyway, before Neave came, I had just gotten back from my very exciting trip to Croatia, so let me tell you all about it and all the things I would recommend to anyone visiting. It really was such a stunning country with amazing people, and I will definitely be going back.

Beach Bums

For the majority of our trip, we just enjoyed the sleepy seaside life. Staying in Slano was one of our best decisions. Because we were also working while on this trip, we didn’t want to be somewhere too busy and distracting.

Island Hopping

My favourite thing we did during our Croatia trip was an Island boat tour. For a mere £35 we went on a boat trip for 8hrs to three different islands and lunch was included. We started the day going to Lopud Island where we explored little art galleries, took a swim in the sea, and picked up some apricots from the local fruit stand. When we returned to the boat, our captain had made us the most delish seafood risotto. The second island, Sipán, was even more remote, so we ended up grabbing an ice cream and walking through the tiny town. Finally, we docked in a small bay near another island and just jumped off the boat and swam around for a couple hours. I definitely recommend going on a boat tour in Croatia if you get the chance. It was an unforgettable experience.

Local Cuisine

As you all know, I’m a big foodie, so during our visit, I definitely wanted to try as much local cuisine as possible. Seafood was obviously very popular and so fresh on the Croatian coast. I had everything from seafood pizza to prawn and squid pasta to mussel risotto. We also tried many a pastry from the local bakery in Slano. All the food was incredibly fresh.

Old City Strolls

After the work week was finished, we decided to make use of the weekend and head to the closest city, Dubrovnik. We mostly explored the Old City which is where scenes from Game of Thrones, Kingslanding, were filmed. The tiny alleys were filled with amazing food spots, homes, and craft shops. We also found a little beach to escape the heat for a couple hours and walked around the old port with all the boats.

Sky High Café

While in Dubrovnik, and by recommendation from my friend Megan, we went to Panorama Restaurant for a coffee and cake. You take a cable car up to the top of the city and there you’ll find this perfectly positioned spot. I definitely recommend heading up to see the amazing view and grab a bite to eat.

Thank you for reading this week’s blog post. I hope you enjoyed hearing about my Croatia trip. I wish I could take you all there with me to be honest, but this is the best I can do. Leave a comment if you’ve ever been to Croatia before and what you enjoyed most about it. Below, I’ve left some of my favourite holiday style pieces in case you’re going on a holiday of your own. If you’re interested in anything particular I’m wearing in my holiday photos, feel free to ask! Anyway, have an amazing week ahead and check back next week for a new post.
